Style for Hire

If you think that a stylist is a luxury reserved only for the wealthy and famous, think again. Stacy London, the co-host of TLC’s What Not to Wear is taking her years of styling experience to the masses!

“I meet people all over the country who ask me, ‘Where can I find someone like you without getting on national TV?’ This company is my answer to them,” said London.

Launching in September, Style for Hire will not only help American women source a locally based stylist in their city (starting with DC, New York and LA), but will help create a nationwide platform for stylists to receive work from. Standard styling rates start at $100/hour and go up according to experience.

If all goes well, Style for Hire could set off a wardrobe upgrade across the country!

Beauty geek.

Ok, I fully admit that I am a gadget geek and when I heard about this one from Women’s Wear Daily, I had to try it out. Estee Lauder is jumping on the digital and social band wagon and has created a nice little widget that, like In Style’s hair make-over tool, allows you to upload a photo and play with the colors that best suit your skin, eyes, and hair. Brilliant.

Above is the screen shot from my test drive. I read that for hazel green eyes, such as mine, a slate blue with a deeper eyeliner that matches the outer rim on my iris is the best way to bring out their color. So, I have tried out this very look- with a sheer mineral coverage foundation, slight blush and very nude lip. Gotta say, kind of aching to try it in real life. :)
