Here is what I suggest.
Start your day with a walk along the Siene River on the Quai des Tuileries, walking from the Place de la Concorde towards the Louvre, stopping at the street stands to pick up an old French poetry book or an artist’s sketch. Dip inside the walls of the Jardins des Tuileries and take a coffee and croissant at the outdoor Café Marly at the Louvre.
Hire a grey velo on the side of Rue de Rivoli and head towards the Marias. Stop at the Centre Culturel Pompidou for the latest exhibit (on now is Kandinsky!). After having your artistic appetite filled, go to the top floor to have lunch at the famous Restaurant Georges. The classic white décor presents a chic ambiance with panoramic views.
After lunch, take a slow stroll down the road to Les Bains des Marais (31 Rue des Blancs Manteaux), a Turkish style steam house with treatments. Make an appointment for an hour massage and arrive early to sit in the co-ed steam room to open your pores. Essential oils, acid jazz and a complimentary Moroccan mint tea at the end create an experience exceptionelle for the modest price of 100 euros. Rinse the toxins away with a shower, but bring your own products as only the bare minimums are provided.
Next, stop off at the Bon Marche, in the 6eme, to peruse the new collections and snatch up an of-the-moment lip colour. My new favourite is By Terry’s laque de rose, now made with SPF 15. ;)
Book at the ever-popular Barlotti restaurant (35 Place du Marche Saint-Honore). Request a table on the indoor terrace and enjoy the feeling of being outside with the glass ceiling. Order the Risotto- there are many varieties- and the coconut sorbet it a must.
To finish off your evening head to the chic neuveau hotel Mama Shelter (shown above) for a Russian Punch in their lobby. Lounge on the low leather sofas and que up for a round of pole or foosball.
