Parisian Chic

Popped across the Channel with my mom for a springtime visit to Paris.  Walking the streets and frequenting the various cafes and restaurants, along with a stop off at Galeries Lafayette, and I am getting a sense for the Parisian style.

What’s in now is minimal and somewhat Western.  All the girls at LoSushi last night were stunning and wearing next-to-nothing makeup.  Natural beauty prevails here and so a swipe of mascara with a dab of sheer lip gloss and you are ready for a night out! Hair was pulled back into loose chignons to accentuate the lovely natural features a la visage.

Also, brun rules.  The very chestnut tones in various hues all warn with an either extremist centre part or a borderline comb-over side part dominate the French coif a la moment.

And of course, since this is Paris, there is still an abundance of black.  Layers of it worn with blue, brown and grey.  Black tights under short jean shorts is a must for the transition into summer.  Pair that with black moccasin ankle booties with plenty of fringe.  Add an extra long boyfriend cardigan and an oversized scarf and your Parisian look is complete!  Of course leggings and a plaid button down are still du rigeur.

Flats abound too.  A walking city by reputation and thus the variations of stylish flats are plentiful.  Mettalic is still quite popular with a leaning towards silver.  And black flats either quilted or with a little hardware add something special.

First day in Paris sightings- more tomorrow! ;)
