Digital Damage Control.

By now we have all been there, or at least heard the horror stories of being there.

I am talking about the post-traumatic break-up bit where not only do you have to go through the wretched heart break, but you have to broadcast it to the rest of the world by displaying a broken heart symbol on your facebook account.  Like I said, sheer horror!

The script reads “so-and-so is now single” and the cracked heart icon follows.  Then come the messages- sometimes hundreds of them, depending upon how many friends you have on facebook.  ”I am so sorry.”  ”Are you okay?”  ”He was a jerk!”  ”Want to go out sometime…”  See what I mean?  It only intensifies an already touchy subject.

Luckily, there is a way around this demoralizing event! :)  Read the instructions below and thank your lucky stars that the torn heart will not be appearing on your profile!  Break-ups are hard enough, you seriously don’t need the extra dialogue.

On your facebook account go to Settings —> News Feed and Wall —> Actions Visible to Friends —> Unclick Everything That Is Checked —> Save Changes! —> Update Your Relationship Status. :)

Now your status should not turn up on everyone’s feed, so in a day you can go back into your Settings and Actions Visible to Friends and bring everyone back into the loop without the drama.  It may be a bit of a process, but believe me, it is worth it. Xx
