Book list.

I know that Christmas is a month away, but my wheels are already turning! A classic gift that I always love to give is a book. So, below is my book list for this season:

  • Dad or Stepdad: The New Economics: A Bigger Picture by David Boyle and Andrew Simms (a new way of looking at wealth and poverty- how they interact, and our direction forward) or Freakonomics by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner (an exploration of the unknowable that will redefine the way you look at the world).
  • Mom or Stepmom: Poems from the Women’s Movement by Honor Moore (from the Oprah list) or  The Story of Edgar Sawtelle by David Wroblewski (a classic American tale filled with devotion, betrayal and courage- everyone I’ve talked to says they cannot put this book down once they’ve started it!).
  • Sibling: The Art of the Idea: And How It Can Change Your Life by John Hunt (recommended by Seth Godin) or Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand (my favorite book of all time, at the moment).
  • The Girls: Style Naturally by Summer Rayne Oakes (the best way to break into the future of fashion- sustainable and non-toxic!) or Who What Wear the book by Hillary Kerr and Katherine Power (a fantastic personal style handbook that has become a go-to resource for me when deciding what to wear).
  • Boy in your life: Futuretainment by Mike Walsh (geeky and visual) or Helmut Newton’s SUMO (a landmark book of photography that is now available in a more affordable version for $150, instead of the normal $15, 000 price tag).
  • Little Ones: Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendik (a classic every child should have on their bookshelf), and Baby Jamz (hip hop sing along versions of all the classics for in the car).
