I don’t know about you, but I am loving the flash sale sites like Rue La La and Gilt Groupe to get great deals on all my favorite designers. Only, because they are flash sales, they have an almost frenzied feel and before you know it everything you wanted is already sold out. :(
Like anything, some honed skills and a game plan will turn this experience from stress into success. I sat down with co-founder of Rue La La, Stacey Santo, and she dished the details on how to best shop the sales.
- Check the monthly or weekly calendar of forecasted upcoming sales.
- Pick the designers you are interested in browsing and set up reminders for when their sales are on.
- When the sale opens, do a very quick overview and scan the entire sale.
- If you have a list of what you know you want- perhaps some trend specific pieces for updating your wardrobe this season- place those in your bag and check out!
- You are only charged shipping once each day, so you can go back and place a second order, if you find more on your second time around, and you won’t incur any additional shipping charges.
- Also, remember that there are no shipping fees for spa services and vouchers. ;)
- Continue to check the updated schedule of upcoming boutiques and leave time open in your agenda to hit the sales when they open.
