Hair switcheroo.

Right about now I feel a bit bored with the current state of my hair. It feels lifeless and dull. Not to mention, it always looks the same…

Yet, I am growing it out and committed to that move, and I remind myself that drastic measures will inevitably be regretted. So, instead I’ll focus on some very simple things you can do to change your hair without well, really changing it. :)

  1. The first and easiest thing you can do is change your part. This fall the messy middle part is back in vogue and gives a very naturally pretty look. On the flip side, I also like to go for the nearly comb-over style side part when I feel like rocking the London school girl or femme fatale look (see what I meanĀ here).
  2. Then there is blow dry versus air dry. For the two above listed styles you can go either way. If you blow dry and follow-up with a flat iron to smooth things out it creates a very sleek and finished look. If you decide to go for the tussled look, I like to use that same flat iron to create some loose waves to add in a bit more texture.
  3. Many hair stylists advocate using different products (mainly shampoo and conditioner) within the span of a week- routinely. It helps change the pH of your hair and that way your hair doesn’t get weighed down with too much moisture every day or static without enough. In this way, you create the balance for your hair manually.
  4. You can also detox your hair. Either find a good “cleansing” shampoo or concoct the following solution to purify your hair and rid it of all the build up from product usage to restore its natural pH. “Dissolve 1/2 to 1 tablespoon of vinegar (apple cider) in a cup of cool water, and place the mixture in a spray bottle,” reveals Summer Rayne Oakes. Shake, spray, let it sit (10 minutes or so) and then rinse. Do this one to two times weekly.

I have a few more tricks up my beauty sleeve, but this seems like a good place to start.
