“You’re not really, really ready. You think you’re ready- you’re not.” Ladies and gentlemen, introducing DJ Ember! A friend of mine from the land before time (ahh, the rhyme was just too good, I had to do it!)- she has launched into the DJ world and I, for one, can’t get enough!
A DJ new to the other side of a well worn music scene, DJ Ember has always had an affinity for music and dance. Now, she is the one behind the decks and with just 10 months under her belt is making her way into the DJ world with a great big boom!
I sat down with her and asked some questions about what it is like to be a female DJ- a rare species. Ember states that, “It is both easier and harder to be a girl DJ. On the one hand you have this novelty component going for you and people are more likely to pay attention to you. On the other hand, they are more likely to judge you for the same reason. All in all, I would say the majority of people are really excited to see a female DJ and are very supportive- high fives all around!”
