I feel like vintage clothing is making its way back into the limelight and in a big way. I, for one, am all about it! One of the best ways to recycle clothing, and trends- vintage shopping provides you not only with a fun Saturday afternoon activity, but also allows you to build some great staples into your wardrobe, and most often in an economical way. So, how do you do it?
I find it best to have a plan of attack. I will go through my closet and also look through magazines to get a sense for what I have and what is missing. Then I will make a list. Almost always included is jewelry, shoes, a great coat or blazer and maybe a dress. This season I will be focusing more on lace or antique detailed tights and stockings. I am also on the lookout for a sweet A-line coat with 3/4 sleeves in a bright popping color.
Luckily, my eyes have been opened to a few great vintage resources this past week. The first is a store in SoHo called The Garment Room. The owner hand picks every item and displays the treasured pieces in a very artsy setting with wall murals and other artists’ pieces around and available for purchase (read my post here for more). I was also introduced to a fantastic website called Rice and Beans Vintage. The collection is extensive and impressive with a price range that makes coveting such fashion finds obtainable. :) One last site I would suggest visiting is Nastygalvintage.com. Their presentation is awesome and the prices are nice and sweet too.
