A couple of days ago, I was asked to do an email interview for Gilt Groupe. Think they are running a post on me on their blog today… hehe. Any way, it was much harder to answer one question in particular. I literally sat and deliberated for a good half hour on one really great style secret I would like to share! Three or four came to mind, including a couple of beauty secrets, and because I could only give one there, I have decided to divulge a few more here. :)
I would say for creating style, really do CREATE it. For me, that meant painting one nail a different color than all the rest- just one. It catches people off guard and also gives me a sense of feeling like I have put my own signature on my look.
I would also say to add one really great and sweet necklace to your collection. I have a gold one that is a thick ring I inherited. I strung it through a gold chain and wear it with dresses or a tee and skinny jeans. It always gives that little something extra to make my outfit feel complete.
As far as beauty goes, I think a lot of women neglect the one place that can have a real impact on helping them put their best face forward- the under eye. I have found the most amazing product to help truly cover dark circles and brighten that area. Bare Minerals- Bare Escentuals makes a mineral powder called Well Rested. Applying with my finger, I use it under my eyes and on the lids to create a even and light eye. Now, I am even crossing over and using it on blemishes or places of red on my skin. The lightness provides easy natural looking coverage and helps neutralize the red.
My final secret (for now!), is a lash builder. After undergoing years of refinement, the formulas are finally spot on and can help you obtain beautiful long and separated lashes. I sound like a spokes woman for Bare Escentuals, but the lash builder they put out is the best. I like to do a coat or two in the morning while getting ready and then before walking out the door, I will swipe a very fine coat of black mascara by Shu Uemura with the wand vertical- wind shield wiping back and forth to add a little color. As you can tell, I am all about the naturally enhanced look. Both of these beauty tricks help me get just that look. ;)
