21 Questions.

The past few days have been packed full with an itinerary to meet and share with an amazing group of creative and interesting fashion bloggers, at the Weardrobe Conference NYC 2009. Beyond the bloggers, our events have expanded to dinners and brunches with editors from Glamour, Paper, and Seventeen Magazine and the Gilt Groupe. As well as a few founding bodies from Tumblr and Rue La La.

What spawns from all of this is insight, the building of relationships, and knowledge- and it all comes down to the questions. I had a friend in high school who was so good at keeping a conversation going with a multitude of interesting questions. I thought, “How can she think to ask me about so many things?!” It made an impression and I have tried to adopt her ease of conversation through the same questioning tactic.

This weekend has been an amazing opportunity to better develop my conversational skills as well and soak up some interesting information given out by those around me. I will give you just a little taste of the questions that have been floating around- hovering over our group and bouncing off one another… ;)

1.Where are you originally from? 2.Who within your family had a fashion influence on you? 3.Do your parents know you blog and do they understand what that means? 4.What is the weirdest email or comment you have ever received? 5.What is your favorite beauty product? 6.Do you shop a lot online and where? 6.Where did you go to school? 7.How did you get started with your blog? 8.How do you grow your readership? 9.Are you on Tumblr or Blogspot? 10.What kind of camera do you use? 11.Who takes your daily post picture? 12.What is the best way to shop Rue La La? 13.How did you get started in the fashion industry? 14.What are you doing for Fashion’s Night Out? 15.Who are you looking forward to seeing during Fashion Week? 16.What kinds of social media tools do you use on your site? 17.How long have you been doing your blog? 18.Do you post every day? 18.What sort of interaction do you have with your readers? 19.What sponsors do you have and how do you work with them? 20.What are you working on now- anything new for your blog? 21.What inspires you?

Phew! And that is just the tip of the iceberg! It has been a few months since I’ve been in a conference setting and I forgot what an great space for sharing they are. With this group especially, I feel like we have made the most of our time and through these inquiries built some friendships that will last a lifetime. So, next time you are stumped for conversation, dig into your bag of questions and get it rolling- you never know what will unfold! ;)
