A request for fall wedding guidance has come in- and I am excited to dish what I would wear. :) The thing about weddings is that you have to find that balance of looking stunning (for your own date and pictures!) and letting the bride shine on her day. I usually go for something very fresh and fashionable- that makes me feel good, but stay more conservative in the cut and color (you can get away with more color in the summer).
There are some great trends this fall that make striking this balance a cinch! One of my favs is the bellow sleeve dress. So often fall weddings leave you to dress between seasons and I for one always wind up cold! This option is great as it keeps you more covered, and you can wear tights and boots, or go for a bare leg and nude heels. Accent with a waist belt or a great statement necklace that hangs a bit lower.
Another trend I would rock is a classic cocktail dress with opaque tights, or bare legs, and a smart pair of booties. This is such a hot trend for fall, and a great way to bring any dress hanging in the closet back to life. You can drape a long sweater jacket over top to add warmth and finish the look. Keep your jewelry simple- like a pair of sparkling diamond studs and a bracelet and let the dress do the talking. This is the best option for an evening wedding. ;)
Finally, I say that the wrap dress is always in good form. It is not only a hot trend now, but has become a staple in style. You can opt for the sleeveless or three quarter sleeve variety. I would definitely add a belt to make the look more complete, and jazz it up with colorful jewelry or layered pearls. If the weather holds, go for those comfy dance ready wedges or else a nude heel.
With all of these, your lipstick carrier should be small- a clutch or small hand bag. If the rest of your outfit is monochromatic or played down you could go for an embellished piece to add some spice- just make sure it is tasteful.
And in case you don’t know, the fail proof place to scoop up an amazing dress for weddings is BCBG. Honoring the girl code, I swear by it. ;)
