Here is comes… my lecture on a personal care matter that is often pushed aside but is of real importance- the use of an eye cream. Wrinkles around the eyes, dark circles and bags are one of the first signs of aging. Many women overlook the benefits of using a daily eye cream- but it has a significant effect.
There are a couple of rules to follow too. The moisturizers created to use for eyes and lips really are specific to the use on these delicate areas- it is not just a marketing ploy. Those areas are more sensitive to absorbing moisture and thus, if you use a cream that is too heavy (ie: your normal face moisturizer) you will wind up contributing to those baggy saggy eyes. :(
Also, the application is very important. First, start by using your weakest finger- your ring finger- to apply a small amount of eye cream from the outer corner (where the smile lines begin to show) and continue along the bottom of the eye to the inner corner, including the area just beneath the inner corner where darkening can occur. All the while, use a dab-dabbing technique. This patting movement inwards builds up callogen (the stuff that keeps your eyes taunt), while wiping from the inside out breaks it down. And never apply moisturizers to the lids of the eyes- they can’t handle it and become droopy!
Recommends? I am the biggest fan of Caudalie’s Anti-Aging Serum Eyes and Lips. It is a lightweight gel that absorbs quickly and instantly lifts eyes with an advanced invisible lattice structure that stiffens into place when it dries. For a more intensive cream to use during the colder months, I like the La Mer Eye Balm. It is a touch expensive, but lasts for ages and is truly the only product I have found that can quench my skin’s wintertime thirst. ;)
