At a party a couple of nights ago, I had a conversation about how I have gotten to where I am from where I was. You know, that zig- zaging path that leads you to what you are meant to do and where you are most satisfied. As time goes by, we do get wiser and the people around us help to influence our choices and direction. At times I have felt lost, but when I look back I am grateful for every single step I took and will take.
The thing is, it will all come back around- that is the comforting thought you can hold in the back of your mind. I will also say, that it is up to you where you wind up, and it requires a constant checking in with that alignment and the recognition to make adjustments when necessary.
If you have a vision of where you want to be in life (and I sincerely hope you do- if it is not clear sit down alone and listen to your inner voice that will tell you what you already know) you have to make sure your energy is going toward fulfilling that dream. The energy you pour into your job, the friendships you cultivate, the trips you take, the way you dress and perceive yourself- all of these things MUST be congruent with your vision. If you are spending 8-9 hours of your day in a job that pays the bills but in no way fuels your path to where you ultimately want to be, quit. Find another job that even if it is a step down will propel you in your desired direction- you will build your way back up, and this time on the path you have always wanted to live.
It is more easily said than done, but I cannot stress its importance. Do you really want to waste a lifetime saying “I coulda, woulda, shoulda…”
