Then you can’t see what I see.

This past week, I have been complimented wonderfully on two things that I have viewed as flaws or shortcomings. It felt more than amazing to receive genuine, un-solicited positive attention in these areas, and it got me to thinking… If they are complimenting me on the very thing that I have been secretly wishing I could change or magically alter for years- maybe, I don’t see myself the way everyone else does.

I do think it is true that what we look like in “real” life is different than the version that stares back at us in various reflections, but it has occurred to me to trust that I look better than I think and that my perceived “flaws” may actually be my best attributes- worth being complimented. That thought alone is very powerful and gives great self-perception and esteem. It is a quirky thing, but worth remembering- we are our own harshest critic and we must remember how fortunate we are to be who we are with all the intricacies that make us unique and someone absolutely worth admiring and complimenting.
