Prolonging the magic.
Ah, the blowout. Such a wonderful boost for you and your hair’s self esteem. It really does seem as though the world is a better place when you step out of the salon and walking down the street your hair bounces gloriously and every time you catch your reflection in the window as you pass by a shop you like what you see…

A good blowout, with a girl who knows what she is doing, can last three days! Here are my tips to prolong the magic.
- Don’t touch your hair a lot- the oils from your fingers will in turn make your hair oily.
- When you go to sleep at night, brush through your hair and place it in a pony tail with a soft scrunchie on top of you head. This is the best way to avoid bed head and you will have added lift in your hair from it sitting so high.
- Break out the magic powder! My secret weapon of choice is Bumble and Bumble’s Hair Powder, in brown (they do come in all shades and are a fun way to add color or help hide roots growing out between colorings). I section my hair into one inch pieces along my crown and after spraying the powder work it into my scalp. This too will give you added volume and zaps oil away. :)
- If you don’t have the powder spray, you can always use baby powder- this works only for those with lighter hair though, as it will lighten darker shades in an unnatural way and make you look like you are going grey!
- You can also tease you roots and do some back-combing action to get lift and then secure it back into a loose ponytail.
- I generally work my way from leaving my hair down on the first day, sporting a pompadour on the second day, and pulling it all back on the third.
