I am starting a new little insert into my Greta Guide guidance… Etiquette tips! Here is my first one. :)
Now back in the US of A after a two year stint in London, England, I have noticed some “Americanisms” that we really can do without.
1.) “Like”: like, really, do we really, like need to like use this word like that much?
2.) “For real”: For real?! You are going to stop using like when you speak?!!
3.) “You know what I’m sayin’?”: Stop it! Saying this does not bring the person you are chatting with to a deeper level of relation and understanding- it really just makes you sound dumb.
4.) “Um”: I know, it is a filler and sometimes, um, just makes its way in- but get a grip on that little bugger… this relates back to your intelligence meter.
Not that I use the English language perfectly- not by any means, but these are a few I think we Americans can clean up a bit. ;)
