So simple and effective- yet often overlooked- is the power of just asking.

Asking for directions. Asking for recommendations. Asking for an introduction. Asking for an opinion. Asking if a seat is taken. Asking if an exception can be made (dressing on the side please). Asking for an upgrade.

The wealth of asking pours in and at no expense. The worst that can happen is someone says “no” or that they don’t know. No harm in that. Certainly worth asking.

But if you are like me, I am torn between developing that outgoing inquisitive side and the polite and timid one that often keeps me from asking.

However, the benefits far outweigh the costs- one more healthy blow to my shy ego. So, my mind is made up! I am going to become an active asker. Would you like to join me? (Just thought I’d ask).
