Today, I nearly gave myself whiplash turning my head so furiously as the new BMW X6 drove by me in Chelsea. Dear God! That is a beautiful car- but I wasn’t so impressed by the design as the colour.  It was a steel matte black.  Brand new and not shiny at all. It looked like a chrome handgun or something… Like it was the undercoat waiting for the shiny top one, but not.

All I can say is that it was stunning. Amazing.

Mark my words, it is a new trend that is going to spread fast.  I can see it translating not only to other cars but to fashion.  Matte chrome metallic bags, bangles, nails, shoes…

I can see blacks, teals, fuchsias, oranges and yellows all in this variety.  Hmmmm, playing trend forecaster a bit- but let’s hold our breath, hope and see.  I am looking forward to the new matt metallic mix up.
