Summer is approaching and so are the itsty bitsy tiny weeny bikinis and other skin revealing outfits, so we are all trying to be good and watch what we eat… but I am here to say there is good news for giving into temptation. You know, that piece of chocolate you have denied yourself for days or those chips that you would actually die for that are beckoning you for just a small taste…
I say (and researchers from New York State University at Buffalo back me) that you should go ahead and give into that temptation- just a little. If you cut out your favourite foods in an “all or none” attempt to reframe your diet you are more likely to binge. Also, by allowing yourself to have these foods in a small quantity you take away their allure and will typically find them less appealing.
So nibble a handfull (just one handfull!) of chips or nuts and savour a small piece of chocolate- my newest find are the delicate and delicious truffle squares by Artison de Chocolat. Recognize that you are rewarding yourself for your efforts in your good diet choices and that by not overindulging you are forming a healthy habit to enjoy the smaller things in life and still reap the benefits of the bigger picture you seek.
