Eating healthy is great and doing so in a manner that is dedicated to changing the way you eat and feel for life, rather than just for a diet period is the best thing you can do to change your body and keep the one you want. In addition, you will need to burn some of the calories you are putting in. And if you want to lose weight you have to create a negative caloric intake to output balance.
So, here is my cardio recommendation to help you burn more than you put in!
Cardio, cardio, cardio! And running is best- it burns the most calories in the least amount of time.
If you do cardio- running, high paced walking, elliptical, bike riding, cross country skiing, the stair machine, a jazzercise class- whatever gets you moving!- 4-5 times per week for at least 30- 40 minutes (ideally 40 minutes to an hour later on when you have built up to it) you will see and feel a difference in two weeks.
Throw in some intervals for two of your cardio days- like 30-second on and off sprints for two minutes three times during your workout. Or, sprint the last minute of every five minutes of your 30-minute workout. Doing intervals is the best way to jump start your metabolism as your body doesn’t know what is coming and cannot revert to its energy saving mode that it may have come accustomed to during your workout. They suck, but honestly they are the surest way to see a difference sooner.
Cross train with a bit of yoga or Pilates to lengthen and stretch your muscles and exercise your core strength.
