Go ahead and get stitch'T- ed!
Years of overstuffed New York closets bore the idea of stitch’T… Where one of a kind, handmade compositions for duvet covers, pillowcases and t-shirt quilts using vintage tees make for a unique and, well, awesome way of putting to use what already exists!

Trend Forecast: Wooden Sunglasses
In the past week I have received three inputs on wooden sunglasses. By my personal definition I ‘pattern recognize’ this to be the precursor to something on the cusp of becoming big and trendy. Truth is, I can see why. Wooden sunglasses are awesome, different and sustainable.  These wooden sunnies by Kayu Design are made from bamboo with a 100% UV gradient lenses.

Accessory Trend Report: Double Finger Rings
I am loving this trend! Lauren Conrad sports a delicate version that sweetly spells out her name. Kim Kardashian and Rihana make a bit of a bolder statement with their double rings that draw the eye. Eco-fashionistas need not been left out- check out  FASHIONmeGREEN to see where to get an upcycled ring that is as original as you!

Eco-Fashion Esty
I recently dove into the eco-friendly clothing section of etsy.com to discover the latest and greatest from eco- independent designers. Here are my picks. Above are the super cute, super conscious summer flats from ExtraSeed. The upper fabric is recycle sourced and the rubber soles are made from discarded car tires. Pretty Birdie does such a wonderful job displaying her eco-fashion designs,...

The Little Book of Shocking Global Facts
I absolutely love info-graph picture books like this! how is it that the developed world spends billions of dollars annually on weaponry,  while the poor of the developing world have no access to education, medicines or even clean drinking water? what exactly is the relationship between cheap goods on the high street and the wage-slavery of sweatshops? how have large corporations branded the...

Scoring Matrix for a little thing called LIFE.
It seems we all float in and out of periods of time in our lives in which making decisions is immanent. I happen to be going through one such time. Making a decision is exciting and can sometimes be stressful, but as a very good friend of mine once (and continues to say) said, “These are good problems to have!” Agreed. Making a decision and having the options that surround it is,...

Mobile trends for Social Media in Fashion
With the advent of mobile gaming apps like FourSquare, location-based marketing and social media plug-ins for fashion brands and retailers are taking off. I, for one, like the trend and feel that a few brands out there are being very proactive in this space. Ready. Set. PLAY! Jimmy Choo and Marc Jacobs were ahead of the curve when they started offering discounts for customers who gained...

Geeking out at LOHAS
LOHAS is a wonderfully sustainable focused forum infused with inspiring talks from game changers, overviews from big brands leading the way in sustainable practices and, of course, a bit of social media and digital how-to thrown in for good measure. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the conference and learned a few things along the way. Here are my takeaways: Books- recommended by Tom LaForge of...

Loving LaLicious Body Oil
Summer is a perplexing time… moisture-wise. The over-heated indoor environments of winter are replaced by chilly air-conditioning and of course the sweltering heat and humidity outside. Do you pack up your body butters for the summer? Are lotions still too heavy outside, but not enough once you are thrust into the building freezers?! I never thought I would say it, but speaking from...

I am so flattered to be the Beautiful Stranger winner! About a month ago I was introduced to BeautifulStranger.tv and enjoyed the behind the scenes beta on some of my favorite fashion bloggers. All of the lovely faces I had been admiring for so long now had their favorite brands, websites and reasons for starting a blog all listed next to their stylish street-side photo. It is kind of like a...

The backstory of FASHIONmeGREEN.
Not too long ago I did a post introducing my newest project- FASHIONmeGREEN. It is a new sustainable fashion awareness project and style site that uses style influencers and eco-fashion makeovers to build a platform for eco-fashion. It pretty much makes my heart swell- as I get so excited about each and every makeover (also known as a ‘project’).  Last week, my friends over at...

The new brand ambassadors.
Fashion bloggers have been redefining themselves over the past couple of years. Many receive sponsorships from brands that translate to ‘in feed’ endorsements. Some host events with these brands. Others come on board and act as their social media specialist. I think the newest title fashion bloggers should take is brand ambassador.  Truly, they are a link between what the brand...

Shift your consciousness...
This past weekend I attended the first ever EcoSalon Shops in New York. A fabulous room full of eco-fashion designers, enthusiasts and fashion media (more on that later). One of the best parts was that the event brought the EcoSalon crew together. We are located all over the US and finally had a chance to get to know one another. It was in a word, awesome. My fashion editor at EcoSalon, Amy...

Ask Greta: How do I write a memorable cover...
The job hunt is on- luckily the employment numbers are showing an increase, which means it may be time for you to put your feelers out for a new job. A GretaGuide reader wrote in asking about the best way to write a cover letter in this ultra competitive job market. Here are my tips: 1. Use a template that has a nice design and catches the eye. On Mac, I like the San Francisco template. 2. Be...

I'm Giving Away Tarte Kisses

So say goodbye to reapplying your lip color throughout the day and say hello to a gorgeous pop of color and hydration that lasts. The best part about...

Urban Signals just took online dating to a whole...

First impressions are Cupid's best friend.
I recently read Malcolm Gladwell’s infamous book Blink, and was particularly intrigued by the bit about speed dating and a study that Columbia University did in New York City. The whole basis of Gladwell’s book is that the first impression of a situation or a person- that passage of time that is just a blink- is more insightful and accurate than any other means of accessing someone or...

The Weekly Wear: California Dreaming...
Spending time in the warm weather of Southern California has taught me one thing- the dress is queen. It is the one piece that transcends any occasion with the right accessories. Well, Daniela Pais, the designer of Elementum, took that sentiment one step further. She strategically cut and sewed one piece of fabric that can be worn at least five different ways- talk about sustainable fashion! ...

The Wrath of Eco-Labeling.
In January, I attended the Key To Shift conference in Berlin, which specifically focused on sustainable fashion and how designers, distributers and consumers could identify it and purchase or produce it. A speaker from the Organic Exchange stated that there were about 70 different ‘eco- labels’ out there meant for the retail division alone.  Unfortunately, that figure has only...

Where are Fashion 2.0 discount sites headed...?
Gilt Groupe, Rue La La and ideeli all cashed in on the surplus of luxury goods that distributers could not sell when the economy downturned. But as prospects for a profitable year ahead in the luxury sector, coupled with an adjusted business model that advocates a more tightly edited production to begin with, what does the future of such discount luxury shopping look like? I hope that a) those...
